Damned Frljić Q&A after the film “Srbenka” by Nebojša Slijepčević

In Polish only

Before Oliver Frljić staged "The Curse" at the Warsaw Powszechny Theatre and thus became Polish right wingers’ most hated director, he attained a similar status in his native Croatia. Back in 2013, by staging "Alexandra Ze"c, he put the cat among the pigeons as regards the Serbo-Croatian conflict. Those events from several years ago are portrayed in "Srbenka", a film we are going to discuss with our special guest. During the Q&A session we are going to try and understand who the director really is, what kind of strategies he applies, and for what purpose. Why do theatres all around the world compete to have him collaborate with them? Why do his performances provoke controversy and even hatred?

Our guest:

Agnieszka Jakimiak, director, columnist and playwright (in charge, among other plays, of Olivier Frljić’s The Curse); Agnieszka Jakimiak also collaborated with Frljić on the occasion of staging The Ungodly Comedy: Remains and The Ungodly Comedy: Confessions.

Magda Pierkarska, journalist with Gazeta Wyborcza
