ROMAN STANCZAK

Protagonist of "Flight".

Roman Stańczak is a sculptor, co-creator of the Polish critical art movement of the 1990s. Born in 1969 in Szczecin. He graduated from the Antoni Kenar Secondary Art School in Zakopane. In the years 1988-1993 he studied at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw - the famous "Kowalnia", together with Paweł Althamer, Katarzyna Kozyra and Artur Żmijewski. Between 1994 and 1997, he had several solo exhibitions (including at the Warsaw Centre for Contemporary Art), and then disappeared from the institutional art scene for many years. Today, Roman Stańczak's works can be found, among others, in the collections of the MSN and the CCA. Currently, Stańczak lives and works in Warsaw and has been associated with the Stereo gallery since 2014.
