A Song Without Home
A young trans Georgian woman, Adelina, abandons a life of complete concealment in a conservative village and escapes to Vienna to claim her freedom and her right to be herself. After 11 years of isolation in her family home, marked by fear of society’s reaction, she takes a radical step – leaving her homeland to begin a new life in Europe and rediscover her identity. The film traces her efforts to build a new everyday reality from scratch: searching for work, entering the Miss Trans beauty pageant, and pursuing her dream of dance. At the same time, it shows that the past does not disappear once a border is crossed – trauma and experiences of rejection continue to shape her emotions and sense of belonging. Back in Georgia, Adelina’s mother remains, and despite her deep bond with her daughter, she must confront social pressure and her own internal conflicts rooted in conservative norms.
The film offers a multilayered portrait of human longing, identity, and the complex nature of freedom, demonstrating that true liberation is not merely a physical escape but requires confronting both the past and social constraints. It stands as a powerful voice against the marginalization of LGBTQ+ communities in places where the right to be oneself is still treated as a crime.
