“Hello, may I come in?” – on women in the Czech documentary cinema. Lecture following the screening of “Anny”

In Polish

Till recently, the status of women in Czech cinema resembled closely that of documentaries – it was marginal. Perhaps that is the reason why Czech documentaries are dominated by women, who have given them new energy, deeper insight , and intimate understanding. This happened way before the film director’s profession in the country got so polarized between male/female, between drama/ documentary. We will present the leading female directors of the genre, true representatives of national Czech cinema.
