Lecture for the Seniors before the screening of “Playing with Sharks"

The Document Academy for the Seniors will feature two films, with a lecture delivered by Jacek Szymański, the city’s well known veteran activist of film discussion clubs, and legendary host of the Senior’s Film Club. This Thursday, we will marvel at the visually mesmerizing portrait of Valerie Taylor – a living legend in the world of diving with sharks. When she first started diving in the 1950s, she initially used to hunt these dangerous predators, but quickly switched the spear to a photo camera, only to become an ardent activist fighting for their protection. She collaborated with Spielberg on “Jaws”, took the essentially male world of diving by storm, and her zest and passion have given us a better understanding of sharks and how we see them.
