The Body Knows. Workshops following the screening of the film “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood”, dir. Anna Hints

PL / EN

Disconnected from our bodies, we often cross our boundaries or allow others to do so. Without perceiving the signals our bodies send, we often experience situations or events that violate our personal space. By not listening to what our body is telling us, we miss the occasions to turn towards ourselves, to take care of ourselves, to say "no" instead of "yes".  After the screening of the extraordinary film “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood”, we invite you to a women's workshop where we will explore the tools which unlock body sensations, allowing us to feel and reinhabit since body is a wonderful place of wisdom and knows more than we may think.

Mindfulness practice gives a new perspective on our own experience. It teaches us to be aware of the processes within us. It allows us to take a step back to see more and avoid impulsive reactions. By bringing us back to the body, it teaches us to read its signals and thus enables us to make the best decisions taking ourselves as the main point of reference.

Workshop instructor:
Anna Zubrzycki – founder and director of Mindfulness Association Poland, actress. She has been practising Buddhist meditation and mindfulness since 1993. She holds an MA in mindfulness from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and has completed supervisor training at Bangor University and the Mindfulness Association UK. She teaches mindfulness-based acting training “Coordination Technique” and vocal techniques. She runs the art and community project „Błaźnice”', addressing the issue of women's presence and creative activity. She was a founder of the Pieśń Kozła Theatre, co-created the Brave Festival and was the main actress of the Gardzienice theatre group.
