How to Talk to Someone With a Different Worldview?

MDAG lesson following the screening of POLISH PRAYERS, reż. Hanka Nobis

partner: PISMO

“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new” – the teachings of the Dalai Lama resonate. The ability to listen in a polarised reality becomes increasingly difficult the more we differ from one another. Does this mean that there will only be less room for agreement? What will locking ourselves in bubbles bring in the long term? Are we perhaps already at the worst of points?

The MDAG lesson will be imparted by:

prof. Monika Kostera – management sociologist, titular professor of economics and humanities. She has worked at numerous Polish, British and Swedish universities.

prof. Anna Giza – sociologist, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Warsaw. She specialises in the sociology of the family. Her research interests also include evolutionary sociology and sociological perspective on marketing.

Moderator:

Magdalena Kicińska – editor-in-chief of Pismo. Magazyn Opinii and vice-president of the Pismo Foundation. Reporter and winner of the Grand Press 2017 in the "interview" category. Author of books including Pani Stefa and Środki transportu.
