Filmotherapy. When Love Triumphs Over Old Age

Meeting with psychologist Anna Hebenstreit-Maruszewska

after the screening of the film TWO STRANGERS TRYING NOT TO KILL EACH OTHER, dir. Jacob Perlmutter i Manon Ouimet

Partner: Faculty of Psychology, SWPS University Sopot

Thirty years after their accidental meeting, the now 75-year-old Maggie Barret and 84-year-old Joel Mayerowitz are still very much in love with each other. Their relationship, on the other hand, is not without its complications. Born in the Bronx, New York, Meyerowitz is a world-renowned photographer with major exhibitions and 40 books to his credit. British-born Barrett is a talented but less recognised artist and writer. There is a rift in their relationship, which becomes apparent when Maggie falls and breaks her leg, and Joel has to care for her. At the end of their lives, they each have a long and dramatic experience behind them, and the difficult elements of their life together provoke them to find inner peace while they still have time to do so. After the screening, we will talk about life, death, love, and the meaning of it all.
