Meeting with Małgorzata Żywicka from the Gdynia Aquarium: When Will the Sea Flood Us?

after the screening of the film AS THE TIDE COMES IN dir. Juan Palacios and Sofie Husum Johannesen

Partner: Gdynia Aquarium

A magical element – water – and the material world. To better understand the complex processes taking place on the "blue planet", we invite you to a meeting with an educator from the Gdynia Aquarium. We will talk about marine awareness, how the ocean – the cradle of life – influences the fate of every inhabitant of the Earth, the scale and effects of human interference with the natural environment, the prognosis for the Baltic regions, the areas that will be submerged under water soon... It will be a dialogue reflecting on the scientific evidence of ongoing climate change and other threats posed by further transformation of nature for human use.

Guest:

Małgorzata Żywicka – oceanographer with a specialisation in marine biology, member of the European Marine Educators Association (EMSEA). At the Education Centre of the Gdynia Aquarium MIR-PIB, she is responsible for preparing workshops for children and teenagers, information campaigns for the protection of wildlife, and popular science events on the biodiversity of the underwater world.
