The 21st edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity – and the 13th held in Wrocław – deserves a grand opening. The festival's opening gala will be followed by an extraordinary event – the Lower Silesian premiere of “The Last Expedition”, directed by Eliza Kubarska. In her latest film, co-produced by the Lower Silesian Film Centre, the mountaineer and director of “The Wall of Shadows” tells the story of Wanda Rutkiewicz, one of the world's first women and the first person from Poland to reach the highest peaks on Earth. Wanda entered the men's world of mountaineers uninvited and paid the highest price for it. This year's opening of the festival will have a strong focus on Wrocław and Lower Silesia – the filming of the documentary took place, among others, at Dickstein Street, where Wanda lived, at the high school she attended, and in Sokoliki – the rocks where she gained her first climbing experience. After the screening, we will meet with the filmmakers and protagonists.
