Lecture: Israeli-Palestinian Conflict – a Never-Ending Story

after the screening of the film NO OTHER LAND, dir. Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor

On 7 October 2023, another tragic chapter in the decades-long conflict between Israel and Palestine began. The lecture by Marcin Szydzisz will focus on the causes and history of this war. The speaker will also try to discuss the most contentious issues related to Jewish settlers, Palestinian refugees, and the status of Jerusalem. It is what makes the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians seem unresolvable and take such dramatic forms. But can we expect the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to become history? We will try to answer this question during a lecture following the screening of the film “No Other Land”, which won the Best Documentary Award at this year's Berlinale.

Guest:
Marcin Szydzisz – PhD in political science, historian, lawyer, and professor at the University of Wrocław. He works as an assistant professor at the Institute of International and Security Studies of the University of Wrocław. He is the author of more than 60 monographs, articles and chapters on issues related to the Middle East (especially Israel and Palestine), Polish foreign policy and national minorities in Poland and Europe.
