ARABIC CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP
after the screening of the film COEXISTENCE, MY ASS!, dir. Amber Fares
Noam Shuster Eliassi, the protagonist of “Coexistence, My Ass!”, comes from the so-called “Oasis of Peace,” where Jews and Palestinians grow up side by side. Noam has been speaking Arabic since childhood. She has established a strong relationship with the Palestinians, and her solidarity is not limited to lofty speeches and a vague knowledge of Arabic culture.
Guided by the idea of getting to know the culture of the oppressed Palestinian people, we invite you to take the first – or the next – step on this path at Tondo Academy. Your guide through the basics of Arabic calligraphy will be Walid Daouadi, an expert in Middle Eastern ornamental art. We invite you to immerse yourself in Walid's stories and apply the newly acquired knowledge under his watchful eye.
Note: The workshop will be conducted in English (with Polish translation). Places are limited.
Instructor:
Walid Daouadi – Arabic calligraphy teacher with five years of experience, specialising in the Naskh style. Arabic is his mother tongue, which he has mastered since childhood, with a deep respect for the art and history of calligraphy. He is passionate about sharing this art and his culture in Poland.
