Czechoslovak Architecture 58-89
A unique documentary based on the original idea by Vladimir 518 and directed by Jan Zajíček about the Czechoslovak pre-revolutionary architectural scene. The authors present remarkably and with passion extraordinary buildings built in the era from Expo 1958 to the Velvet Revolution, interview the architects, reveal stories and enormous effort behind the realization of these buildings.
The documentary follows a successful book and a Czech TV series but unlike them it focuses more on the rich Slovakian production. The visual and editing originality underlines the exceptionality of this film project. Many of the buildings and, unfortunately, even many of the authors didn’t live to see the film premiere, and the documentary is thus an important memorial of their creative talent and legacy.
