Q&A with the creators of Kompleta

after the screening of KOMPLETA, dir. Tomasz Śliwiński, Magdalena Hueckel

Watching documentaries often enables us to travel around the world, but also into the depths of human experiences. The creators of the film Kompleta—known for their Academy Award-nominated documentary Nasza klątwa (Our Curse)—invite viewers into their own intimate universe. The film is an intimate record of a difficult period in the lives of the filmmaker couple, Tomasz Śliwiński and Magdalena Hueckel. The main character was eight months pregnant when she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. This dramatic diagnosis disrupted the joy of the birth of the couple’s child. After the screening, we will talk not only about the ways art helps us to work through trauma, but also about the experimental form of Kompleta, which mixes raw documentary footage with elements of music videos, photography, and collage.
