Meeting with the filmmakers of the film “Silent Observers”

after the screening of the film SILENT OBSERVERS, dir. Eliza Petkova

A tiny mountain village of Pirin in Bulgaria. The young have left, the old remain… along with their companions. In a poetic, sometimes tragically comic way, the film portrays the relationships between people and their animals, which embody the hopes and fears of the local community. The silent fading of this beautiful place, whose inhabitants still believe in miracles, wordlessly captivates, while the sounds of nature and immersive music enhance the feeling of being suspended in time and space. After the screening, we will talk with the filmmakers – the director, the producer and the cinematographer – about their inspiration for presenting a timeless world where folklore intertwines with modernity from an animal perspective.

Guests:

Eliza Petkova, Veselka Kiryakova, Constanze Schmitt
