Jury:
Jagna Dobesz – production designer, Wrocław native, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Sculpture. She has worked on Paweł Pawlikowski’s Academy Award-winning film Ida, as well as Fuga and Silent Twins by Agnieszka Smoczyńska. In recent years, she has co-created films such as Magnus von Horn’s Intruder and Sweat, with whom she recently completed filming the award-winning Girl with a Needle. In each project, she looks for new challenges; she prefers to create her own vision of the world rather than historically recounting the past.
Tomasz Kizny – photographer and journalist, co-founder of the Independent Photo Agency Dementi, which operated from 1982 to 1989 outside the reach of communist censorship. Author of books and photo exhibitions devoted to the history of Stalinist crimes. Contributor to Magazyn Gazety Wyborczej, scholarship holder at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. Awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak – journalist, graduate of Polish Studies at the University of Wrocław, author of the best-selling books Służące do wszystkiego (Servants for Everything) and Chłopki. Opowieść o naszych babkach (Peasant Women: A Story of Our Grandmothers), which have sold over half a million copies in total. Winner of the Teresa Torańska Competition, Empik Bestsellers award, the Mądra Książka Award (Jagiellonian University), the O'lśnienia Onetu award and the City of Kraków award. Wrocław Citizen of the Year 2023. Member of the Unia Literacka writers association.
The jury will award the Lower Silesia Grand Prix to the author of the best film selected from among the films in the Main Competition of the Wrocław edition of the MDAGS Festival.
