BYDGOSZCZ ART.DOC AWARD 2026

Bydgoszcz, which has held the title of UNESCO City of Music since October 2024, has also been a welcoming place for filmmakers for many years. Drawing on the tradition of the local film community, Bydgoszcz is home to renowned Polish documentary filmmakers such as Kazimierz Karabasz, Mirosław Dembiński, Maciej Cuske, and Marcin Sauter. The city has also hosted a unique national project—the Bydgoszcz Film Chronicle—for two decades. Since 2018, during successive editions of the festival, we have awarded an annual prize called the BYDGOSZCZ ART.DOC AWARD to the creators of the best documentary films selected from those submitted to the international competition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Festival. The prize for this year’s edition will amount to 2,500 euros, and the winner will be selected by a specially appointed three-member local jury, composed of representatives of the local artistic community and a representative of the Regional Bar Council.
