Let’s meet at the GDYNIA FILM CENTRE ARTHOUSE CINEMA!
The best films from Poland and around the world, exhibitions, meetings with filmmakers, and workshops for cinema lovers of all ages – all this makes up the program of the Leszek Kopiec Gdynia Film Centre. Since its opening in 2015, this venue has become one of the most important landmarks on Gdynia’s cultural map, attracting both residents and tourists.
The centre's program goes far beyond the standard cinema lineup. It consists of numerous events and thematic series, from film festivals and retrospectives, through special screenings and meetings with filmmakers, to ongoing initiatives such as Grandmasters of Cinema, showcasing the work of outstanding filmmakers, Art at the Center – a series of films about the world’s artistic heritage, and the family mornings Fairy Tale at the Center, which combine screenings with animations and workshops for the youngest audience members, and the summer program Summer on the Patio, filling the space around the building with outdoor screenings, workshops, and events for audiences of all ages. Thanks to this, Gdynia Film Centre remains a place of lively dialogue around cinema, and not just a screening space.
The centre's offer is aimed at professional filmmakers, amateurs, and cinema enthusiasts alike. It is home to the Gdynia Film School, which trains future directors and audiovisual creators. Every fall, Gdynia becomes a gathering place for the entire industry thanks to the Polish Feature Film Festival—one of the most important film events in Poland.
At the heart of the complex is the Gdynia Film Centre Arthouse Cinema, featuring three halls named after historic Gdynia cinemas. The largest of these – Warszawa – seats 227 people, while the more intimate Goplana and Morskie Oko offer 96 and 50 seats, respectively. All rooms are equipped with 4K projectors and a 7.1 surround sound system, allowing for the presentation of arthouse and ambitious cinema in the highest quality.
Since 2021, Gdynia has been a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Film – a title awarded to cities that consistently promote audiovisual culture. This distinction is the result of many years of collaboration between institutions and film events, with the Gdynia Film Centre remaining a key player in these efforts.
Another integral part of the centre is the Gdynia Film Centre Gallery, which showcases works by both emerging artists and established figures in the fields of film and the visual arts. The building also features spaces designed for socialising – the FaBuła café and the Niewinni Czarodzieje 3.0 restaurant – which complement the visitor experience.
