Whistle
At the international Masters of Musical Whistling in Hollywood – the largest and most prestigious whistling competition in the world – participants from across the globe compete for the title of best whistler. Among them are: Lauren, a New York actress struggling with anxiety; Ayna, an ambitious performer from Spain; Yuki, trying to break his second-place curse; Molly, a whistling pop star; Davitt, a volunteer performing for Alzheimer’s patients; and Jay, a teacher hoping to make his students proud. Overseeing the entire event is Carole Anne Kaufman, a suburban hairdresser turned producer. Juggling financial challenges, eccentric volunteers, and backstage chaos, she strives to elevate whistling to the level of true musical artistry. The film shows that every note matters, and the whistlers’ performances – whether solo, with accompaniment, or with a full orchestra – can move audiences as deeply as traditional concerts. Behind this seemingly simple gesture lies deep passion, technical mastery, and a remarkable artistic community
