The Mayor of Gdynia Award
During the award ceremony, the Mayor of Gdynia Award will be presented. The jury will grant the Mayor of Gdynia Award and PLN 15,000 to the best film among those nominated for the Bank Millennium Award in the Main Competition.
JURY:
Katarzyna Klimkiewicz is a film director and lecturer. She graduated in film directing from the Łódź Film School, was a fellow at the Binger Film Institute in Amsterdam, and has made films in Berlin, Israel, the UK and Chile. Her short film debut, ‘Hanoi – Warsaw’, won numerous awards in Poland and internationally, and the European Film Academy named it Best Short Film of 2010. She is the director of films that have won awards in Poland and internationally, such as ‘Flying Blind’ and ‘The Time Before’. ‘Bo we mnie jest seks’ – her latest film was released in cinemas in 2021, winning the award for Best Actress at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia for Maria Dębska, as well as the Orzeł Polish Film Award for Best Production Design for Wojciech Żogała. She has also directed productions for TV, theatre, and television series.
Zygmunt Miłoszewski is a novelist, screenwriter, and social activist. Author of ten novels, including crime thrillers, adventure novels and young adult fiction. One of the most popular Polish writers both at home and abroad, his works have been translated, adapted for the screen and have won numerous literary awards. Founding member of the literary writers’ association Unia Literacka. Sailor, traveller, adventurer. He teaches narrative structure and the art of writing as part of the literature programme at the University of Gdańsk.
Urszula Morga is a poet, director and film producer. Her short films have been screened at festivals in Poland and abroad. Her feature-length documentary ‘Znaki Pana Śliwki’ premiered at the 41st Warsaw Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, and in May, the film will be released in cinemas across Poland. Winner of the 15th Janusz Różewicz National Poetry Competition. In 2024, she made her debut with the collection ‘Fundamenty’, for which she received the Gdynia Galion Award in 2025 and nominations for the Pomeranian Literary Award ‘Wiatr od morza'. Author of the children’s books ‘Panda Bonia’ and ‘O rzece, która szukała morza’. She has lived and worked in Gdynia for over 20 years, where she runs the Esy-floresy animation studio.
