‘Sun Ra: Do the Impossible’ is a story of an avant-garde jazz pioneer. From swing to bebop to free jazz, Sun Ra fused countless musical styles to craft his unique sound. Together with his ever-evolving collective, Arkestra, he pushed the limits of jazz and independently produced over 200 albums. In his youth, he had a revelation – he claimed to have been transported to Saturn and called to devote himself entirely to music. He created Afrofuturism, transforming ancient Egyptian and interstellar metaphors into a musical and spiritual vision that resonates across generations.
A special live jazz session will take place on the third floor of the NCKF building at PRZYPADEK Cafe. The event will serve as a perfect follow-up to the screening of the documentary ‘Sun Ra: Do The Impossible’ and will introduce attendees to the world of jazz expression. It is an excellent opportunity to spend an evening in an atmospheric setting and enjoy the café’s offerings – aromatic coffee, homemade pastries and fine wine will round off the experience.
PRZYPADEK Cafe is a café on the third floor of the NCKF at EC1, overlooking the New Centre of Łódź. This is the place to enjoy aromatic coffee and delicious baked goods, and meet up before or after a film screening. In the evenings, PRZYPADEK Cafe transforms into a space for conversation, with excellent wine and live music.
Admission is free for ticket holders attending any of the festival screenings.
