Discussion: What Is Longevity?
after the screening of THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD, dir. Sam Green
Developed over a decade of the director’s travels around the world, the film follows the ever-changing record holders – the oldest people on Earth. The portrait of longevity becomes a reflection on the passage of time, the unpredictability of fate, and the joy of savoring life. With each encounter, the director’s fascination with the title merges with his personal experiences. The film blends humor, warmth, and a hint of melancholy, providing a profound and playful look at the art of being alive.
Why does longevity fascinate us so much? What does a long life actually mean – beyond the number of years? We will examine longevity from various perspectives, considering what lies behind this concept and how our lives change as time passes.
