Olfactory workshops: Listening to scents
before the screening of WHISPERS IN THE WOODS, dir. Vincent Munier
The ancient forests of France are captured in this latest film by Vincent Munier, the acclaimed creator of ”The Velvet Queen”. Together with his father Michel and his son Simon, the director explores life in the wild woods—deer, owls, lynxes, capercaillies, and many other forest animals. The camera not only records images but above all “listens” to the forest as a living organism, where movement and sound form part of a complex web of life. Yet this is not only a story about the pleasure of connecting with nature, but also about family and the ways we can build strong bonds with those closest to us. The soundtrack features music by Warren Ellis, Dom La Nena, and Rosemary Standley.
Join us for a multisensory film experience – before the screening, we invite you to an olfactory workshop exploring the concept of ‘listening to scents’. We will immerse ourselves in the darkness of the forest, drawing on the strangeness of a non-human way of being, a community extended to all living organisms. We will listen to the scents of darkness, trees, the hyperobjects of fungi, lichens, mosses and the earth after rain, so that ultimately, ‘thinking like a tree’ (John Seed), we may construct our own tale of the darkness of the forest paths.
The ticket for the workshop is valid for the screening on 14 May at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available at the cinema box office and at www.kinomuza.pl. Places on the workshop are limited. The ticket for the workshop + screening is not included in the festival pass.

Małgorzata Szaefer – a graduate in aromatherapy and numerous courses in natural perfumery, including those taught by Dora Goldsmith, Smell Lab in Berlin, Alchemies of Scent in Prague, and Illuminated Parfume in Santa Fe. She is currently studying the Japanese Mon-Koh ceremony: Listening to Incense, with Eriyo Watanabe; curator and researcher of outsider art; president of the Lue Lu/Brut Now Foundation; and member of the European Outsider Art Association. A huge fan of the scents of the world, the Kodo incense path, and outsider art.
