Planet City is a project at the intersection of film, virtual reality, and speculative architecture that challenges the logic of perpetual civilization growth. Rather than continuing the exploitation of ecosystems, humanity decides on a radical step: retreating into a single, hyper-dense metropolis. This visionary act of resignation allows for the restoration of wilderness on lands once destroyed by the global economy.
In an oneiric setting, Liam Young’s project intertwines futuristic imagination with hard scientific data. Created in collaboration with distinguished scientists, designers (Ane Crabtree), and musicians (Forest Swords, Emel), Planet City is a multi-vocal manifesto for saving the world. It is both a breathtaking panorama of tomorrow and an urgent examination of the most fundamental environmental challenges humanity faces today.
