Educational meeting: On Growing up, Adapting, and Having an Unusual Passion
after the screening of the film BUGBOY, dir. Lucas Paleocrassas
Recommended age: 14+
Yorgos, a shy teenager with a vision impairment, struggles to connect with others after his parents’ divorce. His bond with a cricket named Isabella becomes a catalyst for transformation and self-discovery. Even the smallest creatures can help us find our place in the world. Will a difficult eye surgery give him confidence? Will he find the courage to confront his parents? Yorgos discovers he no longer has to be alone. His passion for insects opens the door to lessons about trust, friendship, and growing up. The film blends realism with a metaphorical fairy-tale tone, creating visuals that are at once realistic and poetic.
The educational meeting will be led by Michał Tęcza – a sexologist, educator and anti-discrimination trainer – and Michał Sawicki – a psychologist, sexologist and therapist. Both are affiliated with the Medical University of Warsaw.
