Director. Born in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, a small town in Silesia, Poland, where he grew up as a queer person. This experience shaped his sensitivity and inspired his interest in cinema that blends the worlds of queer individuals with the reality of growing up in working-class neighborhoods and street culture. He is a graduate of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice and the Wajda School in Warsaw. Dawid Nickel focuses on stories about characters stereotyped because of their sexual orientation or social background. His debut feature Love Tasting won the top prize in the micro-budget section at the Gdynia Film Festival. He has worked with renowned directors such as Małgorzata Szumowska (Body, Mug, All Inclusive) and Łukasz Ronduda (All Our Fears). In 2023 and 2024, he premiered two new films: Filipka, a short documentary about a queer, gender-fluid friend, and Rave, co-directed with Łukasz Ronduda, which had its international premiere at CPH:DOX and Millennium Docs Against
