producer of the film ‘Cooking Up Democracy’
Hui-Chen Huang is a filmmaker and producer based in Taiwan. Her directorial debut, Small Talk, received the Berlinale Teddy Award and represented Taiwan at the 90th Academy Awards. An active industry advocate, she has served as Secretary-General of the Taipei Documentary Filmmakers' Union and on the boards of the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI). Currently, she is a Consulting Committee Member for the Taipei Film Festival. In 2025, she founded her company, Your Sister Films, to craft local stories with universal appeal and foster international collaborations. She is the producer of the Tayal documentary SPI, which is currently on its festival circuit, and is directing her new feature LOMÁ, now in production. While deep-rooted in Taiwanese storytelling, she is keen on international co-productions, having co-produced Cooking Up Democracy and currently co-developing Island of Freedom with Czech director Haruna Honcoop.
