Julien Elie has directed several critically acclaimed feature-length documentaries in Canada and abroad. His films have received over thirty awards worldwide in recent years. « Dark Suns », the epic tale of the wave of violence in Mexico, has won numerous recognitions at prestigious festivals such as CPH DOX and BAFICI, and was nominated in several categories at the Los Angeles International Documentary Awards. His latest feature, « Shifting Baselines », has been screened at some thirty international festivals and has received several accolades, including the Kaleidoscope Award at DOC NYC and the Green Award at Dokufest. The film was released across Canada in the fall of 2025 and will soon be released commercially in France and Mexico. Julien Elie is currently working on his next documentary, a film that blends investigative journalism with philosophical reflection on the end times.
