Małgorzata Szumowska is a film director, screenwriter and producer. Her films include Stranger (2004), 33 Scenes from Life (2008), which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival, and Elles (2011), starring Juliette Binoche. In the Name Of (2013) received the Teddy Award for Best Feature at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Grand Prix at the Istanbul Film Festival. She later won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale for Body (2015) and the Grand Jury Prize for Mug (2018). In 2022, she directed Infinite Storm, starring Naomi Watts. With Michał Englert she co-directed Never Gonna Snow Again (2020), which premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival and was selected as Poland’s submission for the 93rd Academy Awards. Their next film, Woman Of… (2023), also premiered in the main competition in Venice. They are currently in post-production on The Idiot(s), starring Aimee Lou Wood, Johnny Flynn, Vicky Krieps, and Christian Friedel.
