Q&A with the filmmakers and the protagonist of ‘Ewa – the Last Lesson’
after the screening of EWA – THE LAST LESSON, dir. Andrea Mura, Federico Savonitto
After more than four decades of artistic work in Italy, Ewa Benesz, one of the last living witnesses to the fading legacy of Jerzy Grotowski’s Theatre, decides to return to Poland and confront the question about the future of her knowledge. Her story is one of return – not only to the place she left during martial law, but also to her own roots and the experiences that shaped her as an artist. Following the screening, we will speak with the filmmakers and the protagonist about body memory, the transmission of knowledge through performative practices, and what is lost as a generation of artists passes away. There will also be plenty of references to Wrocław, which naturally intertwine with the history of the Laboratory Theatre and Grotowski’s work.
