Lecture: On Elephants that Really Do Exist
after the screening of GHOST ELEPHANTS, dir. Werner Herzog
In his latest film, Werner Herzog follows the giant ghost elephants sought by Dr Steve Boyes. The scientist tracks a herd hiding from humans in Angola, in uninhabited lands the size of England, which the locals call ‘the end of the world’. To help us understand this fascination, Agata Kociołek from Wrocław Zoo will take the MDAG audience into the extraordinary world of elephants. During the lecture, our guest will discuss the different species, their lifestyles, habits, intelligence, and distinctive features, and will also shed light on conservation issues related to these remarkable animals.
Guest:
Agata Kociołek – veterinary technician, Master of Science in Agribusiness, graduate of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław. She has been working at the elephant enclosure at Wrocław Zoo for five years. She looks after the elephants, pygmy hippos and capybaras.
