Lidija Zelovic has been portraying her displaced family in the Netherlands since 1993, after they fled war-torn Sarajevo. Home Game explores the duality migrants live with – what is “home”? Drawing from her family archive, Zelovic contrasts intimate moments at home, like political debates with her parents and holidays in Bosnia, with political turmoil in the Netherlands – murders, discrimination scandals, polarization, and the rise of right-wing politics. Sometimes funny, often confrontational, and always sincere, the film reflects on Zelovic’s life as a mirror of broader societal shifts.
