The second week of MDAG Online is ahead of us. We are not slowing down – the All Eyes on Palestine section has been enriched with three new films that festival audiences know from previous editions. These are “No Other Land”, “The Bibi Files”, and “Coexistence, My Ass!”.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, two films appreciated during the theatrical part of the festival appeared on MDAG Online, perfect for a screening in the comfort of your home. “Bugboy”, directed by Lucas Paleocrassas, is one of the films viewers mentioned frequently. It is a story about growing up and closeness, but above all, about the relationship between 14-year-old Yorgos and a cricket named Isabella.
The second film tells the story of a Brazilian journalist who ventured deep into the Amazon to meet the Korubo tribe living far from modern civilization. Now another Swedish journalist has returned there to investigate the case, but the indigenous inhabitants are demanding justice. “Amazomania”, directed by Nathan Grossman, raises questions about the morality of the expedition and the relationship of white people with indigenous cultures.
Additionally, after the first week of the online festival, five favorite titles watched on MDAG Online have emerged, impossible to ignore.

The third proposal is one of the biggest hits of the 22nd MDAG and last year’s opening film – “Coexistence, My Ass!”, directed by Amber Fares. It is the story of an Israeli comedian who stands up for Palestinians and grew up in the Oasis of Peace – a project intended to unite two nations, but now forgotten. Can humor be an answer and a way of coping with such a dramatic situation?

The second new addition is “Amazomania”, directed by Nathan Grossman. The film takes viewers into the heart of the Amazon jungle, where fascination with the unknown quickly turns into a moral dilemma. In 1996, a Brazilian official and a Swedish journalist reach the isolated Korubo tribe, and footage from their expedition circulates around the world as a sensational record of “first contact.” Nearly 30 years later, however, the story returns from a completely new perspective – the Korubo demand the right to tell their own story and settle accounts with the past.
