What is left of the Bauhaus? - debate after the screening of "Bauhaus Spirit" by Thomas Tielsch and Niels Bolbrinker

How can Bauhaus-inspired architects and designers change reality nowadays? Are the outcomes of their efforts in accord with the doctrine and teachings of Walter Gropius and his followers?

Our guests:

Engineer architect Ryszard Nakoniczeny, PhD: Katowice-based graduate and employee of the Architecture Faculty of Gliwice University of Technology. Lecturing professor in the Department of Design Theory and History of Architecture. Co-author and editor of books on architecture. He focuses of contemporary architecture history and preservation of modern cultural heritage.

Szymon Bik: theoretician of culture and graphic designer specialising in history and philosophy of typography. Graduate of inter-faculty studies at Silesian University, simultaneously guest student at the Katowice Academy of Fine Arts. He is fond of unusual topics, combining and dividing investigation areas, and examining the less known side of things. He has written, among other topics, about history of typography, the philosophy behind item collecting, and modernist architecture. He is currently creating and collecting the material for his PhD thesis on lettering designs perception.

Adrian Chorębała: curator and manager of the Rondo Sztuki gallery in Katowice (branch of the Fine Arts Academy). Co-originator and mastermind, along with Michał Kubieniec, of the Bauhaus: 100th Anniversary programme which will be held in Katowice in the autumn of 2019.
