Be Like a Girl and Bodylove – conversations about the female body and courage in the context of the latest books by Ania Tatarska and Martyna Kaczmarek (with authors).

Moderator: Katarzyna Błaszkiewicz (Onet.pl)

Anna Tatarska invited inspiring women who live on their own terms to an intimate conversation about stereotypes, growing up and finding your path. About the body and emotions, about failures, disappointments and anger. The heroines speak honestly and openly about painful and difficult things. About violence, trauma, exploitation. About the need to be different and expectations that they no longer want to meet. But also about the difficult path to self acceptance and the strength coming from unapologetically being yourself. Women in society are constantly being evaluated, judged and watched. Their decisions and needs are often questioned. The unique situation of the heroines of the book is that they are, on top of everything else, public figures. Journalists, actresses, writers, influencers. They are in the public eye. Other people's opinions, sometimes cruel and thoughtless, are something they face every day. Listening to the stories of the book’s heroines, you will feel a bond with women who, despite their differences, have a lot in common. "Jak dziewczyna" (Like a girl) is a story about a cross-generational community of women and their experiences.

„Ciałokochanie” – book by Martyna Kaczmarek

"We all need some additional tutoring in body and self acceptance. Why? Because one of the few certainties in life is that our body will always be with us and will always be changing. And these changes will not always be easy for us to accept. Diet culture and the beauty industry have made us become inattentive when doing our homework on the unconditional acceptance of our body, which after all is our home. Instead of listening to our bodies’ needs and trying to decipher what it is trying to communicate to us - we listen to the never ending avalanche of commercials telling us to “get yourself together”. Instead of working on loving our bodies, we look for new “problems” with them and then punish ourselves. I am 28 years old and I spent half my life in conflict with my own body. Instead of changing my body for the summer, New Year's Eve, wedding, cousin's christening ... I want to show you how to accept yours for years and find peace in your own home. Go on this journey with me. I promise that I will help you love your body."
