Workshop: Social Sustainability in European Film Production: Towards a diverse and ethical ecosystem 

This workshop aims to explore the intersection of social and environmental sustainability within the European film industry. Participants will explore the interconnectedness of these two critical areas and identify strategies to better integrate sustainable practices in film production. The workshop will provide a platform for collaborative discussion, sharing best practices, and developing actionable plans to enhance sustainability efforts across the industry. By focusing on both environmental impact and social responsibility, the workshop seeks to foster a holistic approach to sustainability in European filmmaking.

Speaker: Fatih Abay


Fatih Abay is since 2022 the Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the European Film Academy, combining his passion for European cinema with his professional expertise in diversity and inclusion. He also works as a facilitator, coach, and consultant. He holds a BA in European Studies from University Maastricht and an MA in Political Science from the Central European University. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Cultural Anthropology at European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), with research focusing on migration, diversity, racism, gender, critical theory, and post-colonial studies.
