Silent Observers
A tiny mountain village of Pirin in Bulgaria. The young have left, the old remain… along with their companions. In a poetic, sometimes tragically comic way, the film portrays the relationships between people and their animals, which embody the hopes and fears of the local community. The silent fading of this beautiful place, whose inhabitants still believe in miracles, wordlessly captivates, while the sounds of nature and immersive music enhance the feeling of being suspended in time and space.
Is the cat Matsa really a vampire, and is the donkey Kirka under a curse? What will become of the horse Gosho and the goat Belushka? Sometimes, no words are needed to express an entire universe.
