Panel discussion: Hate versus technology
after the screening of HACKING HATE, dir. Simon Klose
You can pretend to be anyone online. My Vingren, a Swedish journalist, created a fake profile of a white supremacist and used it to expose a network of neo-Nazis who were spreading hate speech and extremism on a global scale. How come social media are powerless against extreme violent content? Are tech companies doing anything to stop the hatred and social divisions perpetuated online? And last but not least, will artificial intelligence prove to be an ally in the fight for the lives of young people, who are so often seduced by extremist slogans? We will discuss these questions with our guests after the screening of Hacking Hate, a film which documents the virtual epidemic of hatred spreading before our very eyes.
