Debate: The Price of Courage. Is Anyone Protecting Those Who Speak the Truth? With the participation of director Marc Bauder and the film’s protagonist Jean-Jacques Lumumba

after the screening of WHISTLEBLOWER, dir. Marc Bauder

Partner: WSB Merito University in Gdynia

Following the screening of the film ‘Whistleblower’, we invite you to a discussion on the role of whistleblowers in today’s world – their motivations, moral dilemmas, and the consequences they face for revealing uncomfortable truths. Marc Bauder’s documentary takes us behind the scenes of the global struggle for transparency and justice, in which individuals stand up to powerful institutions. During the event, we will discuss the line between loyalty to an organisation and responsibility to society. What price do whistleblowers pay? Are there effective protections? In today’s world, is truth-telling courageous or necessary?

Guests:

Marc Bauder – a director known for his documentaries on social, political, and economic issues (including Master of the Universe)

Jean-Jacques Lumumba – one of the protagonists of the film ‘Whistleblower’, a Congolese banker who made headlines by exposing cases of corruption and embezzlement of public funds in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He will share his own experiences of life in exile and the consequences of exposing financial irregularities.

Artur Kozłowski – Professor at UWSB Merito, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation at WSB Merito University in Gdańsk and Gdynia. He will provide an academic and institutional perspective.
