Film Theraphy: Tomorrow, It Could be You

after the screening of JANE ELLIOTT AGAINST THE WORLD, dir. Judd Ehrlich

Partner: The Faculty of Psychology at the SWPS University in Sopot

A film portrait of Jane Elliott, an American teacher and anti-racist educator who has become a national voice in the fight against prejudice. The documentary traces her personal and professional path – from the groundbreaking 1968 classroom experiment in Iowa, where she divided students into “better” and “worse” groups based on eye color, to decades of engagement in debates on inequality, identity, and power. At 90, Elliott remains an example of an uncompromising and honest voice in times of intense social tension, showing how to confront history responsibly to avoid repeating its mistakes. After the screening, we will explore further. Can we live in societies free from prejudice? Why do we live in a polarised world, and how can we change that? How can we instil tolerance in young people? What constitutes ethics in the psychologist’s profession, and could Jane Elliott’s famous experiment succeed again?
