Apolonia, Apolonia
Danish director Lea Glob first met Apolonia Sokol in 2009. The artist grew out of the underground theatre scene in Paris, living a life typical of the local bohemian milieu while trying to establish herself in the art world. Over the following years, the director repeatedly returned to her protagonist, gradually building a unique bond with her. For a long time, Apolonia tried to achieve success as a painter, although this proved extremely difficult. Among other challenges, she had to confront the unequal treatment of women and men - an issue that also affected Oksana Shachko, one of the founders of the feminist group Femen, with whom Apolonia was friends and lived for several years. Will the protagonist finally receive the recognition she deserves?
