Saturday, May 17 | 6:00 p.m. | Kinoteka 2
Meeting with the creators of Mistrzynie (Champions), dir. Justyna Tafel
Partner: Papaya Film
Champions are not born on the winners’ podium—they get there through perseverance and determination. The film follows six exceptional Polish female athletes: Adrianna Sułek-Schubert, Karolina Naja, Natalia Partyka, Aleksandra Kałucka, Natalia Kałucka, and Róża Kozakowska, who inspire others not only with their achievements but also their strength of character. They come from different disciplines, and each of them faces injuries, motherhood, or systemic barriers. Their stories show that being a champion is not just about medals, but about a journey full of passion, sacrifice, and striving to be the best.
After the screening, we would like to invite you to a Q&A session with director Justyna Tafel and creative producer Justyna Górniak. It will be an opportunity to talk about the making of the film, as well as the inspirations and challenges they encountered during its production. The creators will share their insights on the role of women in sports, challenging stereotypes, and the impact of social expectations on the careers of female athletes.
Free tickets for the screening can be collected at the Festival Center in Kinoteka starting Friday, May 9.
