Workshop: Photo Roulette with Karolina Wojtas

After the screening of WORLD BETWEEN US, dir. Marie Dvorakova

partner: Fotofestiwal

Don't worry about analyzing poses, perfect light and over-planning. Or about having no idea how to do these things. Here there will be no time for thinking: we are entering total “fun mode.” Just like at a wedding reception, or a good party, only instead of dancing we will be taking pictures. These are moments of spontaneity, acting on impulse, unfiltered and imperfect. There will be music and improvisation, reactions and emotions instead of instructions. The eye registers, the hand works, and the mind? Let it rest at ease.

The event, co-created with Fotofestiwal in Lodz, is a form of photographic roulette, divided into 7-minute tasks with a variable game engine. It will take place after the screening of World Between Us and will be moderated by Karolina Wojtas, one of the most daring and original photographic voices to emerge from Poland in recent years. We will work in groups, solo or in pairs, with our own equipment (any camera will do), participants will be invited (but not forced) to share the results of their work. There is one essential requirement: an open mind. The result may be weird, or slanted, but it will be real. Because sometimes the best pictures are created by chance.

The ticket price for the screening and workshop is 60 PLN. In order to purchase it, please visit book.mdag.pl.
